What you'll need to use Super Cruise
In order to operate Super Cruise, you must have an active and eligible OnStar Super Cruise Plan or trial. All new Super Cruise-equipped vehicles include three years of OnStar One* to support functionality, after which a Super Cruise plan must be purchased.

MYTH #1:
Super Cruise is the same as Adaptive Cruise Control.
Super Cruise is not just cruise control; it's a Level 2 hands-free driver-assist technology. It uses LiDAR maps, GPS, cameras, radar, and real-time monitoring to handle the steering, acceleration, and braking, helping maintain a selected following distance from the vehicle ahead.
MYTH #2:
It only works on interstates.

As of 2026, Super Cruise works on 600,000+ miles of pre-mapped roads across the U.S. and Canada. That includes rural highways and bypasses, not just interstates.
MYTH #3:
It doesn't support towing.
On properly equipped vehicles, Super Cruise can recognize when you're pulling a trailer*, and it will automatically lengthen the gap to the next vehicle ahead in traffic. This gives your vehicle extra stopping distance.

Turn Signal Activated Lane Change*
If properly equipped, when you lightly tap your turn signal, Super Cruise technology will change lanes after ensuring it is safe to do so - no further input required.
Super Cruise Trailering *
Super Cruise can recognize when you're pulling a trailer, and it will automatically lengthen the gap to the next vehicle ahead in traffic. This gives your vehicle extra stopping distance.
Driver Assistance Auto Engage
In select 2026 and newer vehicles, Auto Engage can automatically transition between driver assistance modes to help you take advantage of the highest level of driver assistance technology available and can make your daily drives easier. Only take your hands off the wheel when the steering wheel light bar turns green.
